An unfortunate announcement for a fortunate reason.

It has been some time since I updated Electric Avenues, and it will likely be some time before I do so again. Luckily this is isn't because of any bad news, it is because I have become involved in local political organizing! Not only that, I have actually taken on a great deal of responsibility, which leaves me with very little time for other projects.

I hope to return to Electric Avenues one day, as I think the topics I was discussing will only become more relevant over time, but with the current circumstances in the United States I felt a need to get more directly involved.

While you're here, I'll use this moment to encourage you to do the same as I did. There are almost certainly local groups in your area doing important work and they likely need help. The federal government in the US is in complete chaos, to put it mildly, and this is a time where we need to create more resilient communities.

Not only that, it is an excellent antidote to doomerism (which we discussed in Why Have Movements Failed?). Even when the news is grim, it is difficult to feel defeated when you are standing side by side with other folks putting in the time to build a better world. Personally, it has been a huge boon to my mental health in 2025.

Instead of logging off to touch grass, maybe log off to help build a park. Hope you all have a great summer!
